Tom Knight was based at Kawerau fulltime for 17 months, as one of two engineers managing the Evaporator 3 Project at OjiFS Tasman. This was a $23M investment project, wherein a new black liquor evaporator plant was installed and commissioned to replace an existing evaporator set that was at the end of its design life. Index Engineering was responsible for completing the piping design and layout drawings connecting the existing plant to the new plant, and design verification of all piping.
Tom was responsible for overseeing multiple contractors through the construction of the new plant, reviewing the design work of others, scoping and awarding work, investing and solving issues, managing health and safety, monitoring progress and advising contractors on construction methodology. This significant investment will make OjiFS Tasman mill more cost-efficient and help reduce its environmental footprint.
